Eternals Trailer Reveals Marvel’s Ancient Superhero Team
Marvel has finally revealed the first official full-length trailer for the highly anticipated Eternals. The footage features a combination of thrilling and head-scratching moments with a few laughs in the mix. Eternals is slated for a theatrical release on 5 November.
The trailer features a voiceover from Salma Hayek’s character Ajak – the leader of the Eternals stating, “Throughout the years, we have never interfered — until now.” The two-minute footage provided us with a glimpse of several interesting moments, from an Indian style wedding to the Eternals revealing themselves to the world.
Taking place after the events of Avengers: Endgame, an immortal alien race called the Eternals – who have secretly lived on Earth for over 7000 years, will have to reunite to protect humanity from their evil counterparts – the Deviants.
The film will be directed by Oscar-winning director Chloé Zhao who bagged the Best Picture and Best Director wins for Nomadland earlier this year. The score for the film will be provided by German composer Ramin Djawadi, who is well known for his compositions in Game of Thrones and Westworld.
Eternals is a team of heroes so Marvel has created its own ensemble cast of A-listers to play the characters. The upcoming movie will star Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, Kit Harington, Salma Hayek, and Angelina Jolie.
It’s interesting to see that Marvel has gone all-in with a diverse cast on a rather less known superhero team. But perhaps an A-lister cast and a talented director is what Marvel is counting on to make this film a success. Whether or not it lives up to expectations, we will just have to wait till November to find out ourselves.
